This is for the right side (passenger’s side) on US model BMW X5. Installation is simple as it uses the familiar ball stud used with any other BMW hood or trunk strut. For replacement, the tailgate must be in the fully open position. No programming or electronic syncing should be required – it should be near full extension to install and the closed setting is determined by a microswitch on the body.
